Most times, it is difficult to know if you got the right gift for the grandkids. From the expression of our 8 year old granfdaughter, we got it right. When they freeze and their jaw drops, you know you got it right. Would have been nice to have it on tape, but it is locked into my mind forever.

My parents knew what we wanted; we never made lists and only rarely did they miss the mark (yes I am looking at you--the orange backrest thingy 'santa' supposedly brought for me--parents never tried that one again (with 4 sibings 8+ years older than I, santa never existed) and I still have it, though its the uglyist thing I have yet seen in my life--it was useful).

anyways....I think christmas is more for the kids anyways, so glad that they are happy and that is enough for me.

It is always fun to see their faces when you hit something spot on. I like seeing that with my nephews. Of course I didn't see them on Christmas so I missed some of those moments. Maybe we will get some more today when my wife and I go over for a Christmas with my family.

finally got to see the last air bender movie...I thought it was pretty good (acting could have been better), but it got horrible reviews...then I watched some of the cartoons it was based off---they are HORRIBLE, the acting is worse than my little pony. (and a reference to a really horrible extremely bad acting japanese anime) crossed together! I had to mute it to just watch the whole episode. Not sure why everyone liked it and hated the moive.
ah well, never was one to go with the flow.

Cartoon came first, thus the cartoon must be superior and the movie is bad. People don't like it when movies don't confirm perfectly to how they think they should be.

the cartoon is horrible, I wanted to scratch my ears off just trying to listen to the poorly written and even more poorly voiced acted script....it was almost watch-able with it muted.
I can understand a bit of the concern--they did lump all of the cartoon into one movie, so they skipped over things; but that is how movies are. You can only do so much in 2 hours (though we shall leave some of the more recent movies out of this)....and lots of what I was watching in the cartoons is not worth putting into a movie!

guess I just cant handle cartoons meant for 5 year olds (cant handle the purple dino either or that red thing who sing he(ad) sho(uld)ers, (k)nees and (t) oes.....his diction is worse than listening to welsh people try to speak english!) am soooo glad none of that crummy stuff was around when I was a kid--I would be scared for life! (heck, even sesame street wasnt made until I was already in school).

Very few cartoons have gone to movies successfully if I recall correctly. Especially if they try to follow the cartoons. Doesn't end too well.

accent yes, but over here they subtitle when welsh speak since no one on this side of the pond can understand them (sound like they have a mouth full of marbles and no teeth).

It is awfully cold here. We got some snow today and the temps were sub zero. Not pleasant to say the least.

I'm thinking that hawaii looks pretty good right now....or where did red live....ah Tahiti! that would be good too....and looks like more snow is on the way as well as a bit more cold

time to find an extra blankee....and snuggle up with a warm mug of hot cocoa.

Hawaii would be awesome right now. I was there back in 1999 to welcome in the New Year of 2000. So if Y2K had hit, I would have been stranded in Hawaii. Not too bad! But it didn't.

Warm blanket, a movie, and a wife to cuddle up with is also nice.

1999...was....working for the gas company and they were waaaay overboard on the y2k stick, hubby had his last day at his contracted employer (laughed all the way home since everyone else had to stay--his contract ended that day so he didnt).....and I was making

eight treasure rice! (which I am also making tomorrow, though my recipe seems to have gotten lost, yet again, I remember it so no need to check it)....and in the japanese tradition will probably have a bowl of soba for a late night snack tonight
